A thief in the house
A few years ago, we made the decision to get rid of our cable service. It was a financially motivated decision. Money was tight and we needed to cut some things out of our budget, and cable TV was one of the 'unnecessaries' that hit the chopping block. My kids went into mourning! Well, to be honest—I went into mourning with them! We loved having cable! We could sit for hours and hours just vegging out in front of that TV. It was one of our favorite pastimes.
When the cable was gone, there was this strange thing that fell over our house. What was it, you might ask? Well, it was peace! The thing that I thought we would never survive without, was actually an intruder that I had long welcomed as a friend.
In the midst of the peace, my husband spoke out what we all felt. "Well, the thief is gone."
The thief in our home. Stealing our time. Demanding our attention. Distracting us from what's important.
Is there a thief in your home? Something that is stealing your time? Demanding your attention? Or distracting you from what's important?
In the midst of all the chaos, craziness, and ups and downs that comes with this life, my prayer for you is this:
May the God of hope fill you with ALL JOY and PEACE as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.
